Rally America Brings Top Drivers to Missouri for the 100 Acre Wood

SALEM, MO -- Rally America gears up for the second stop of the National Championship Series as they compete in Salem, Missouri at the 100 Acre Wood Rally. Competitors involved in the series will be vying for a chance to be selected to compete in X Games 13.

Motorsport enthusiasts will not want to miss the best drivers in the world driving Real cars, Real fast on Real roads. From dirt to rocky, hard to dusty, the talented Rally America racers take on any roads to compete in rain or shine conditions. The Rally America racers are some of the most talented racers in the world as they compete on various road and weather conditions throughout this two day event.

The 100 Acre Wood Rally is known to have some of the best rally racing conditions in the U.S. Named after the storybook home of Winnie the Pooh, this rally is a picturesque race with enough twists and turns to test every driver’s ability. The roads are known for being fast, tight, twisty and dry, which are some of the most favorable conditions for the drivers to showcase their skills.

"The Salem area has some great roads and the communities have really grown to embrace the event. The organizers are always improving 100 Acre Wood and this year they’ve added single pass recce [reconnaissance] which gives the teams a chance to view the roads in advance and personalize their Stage Notes. This will be done at legal speeds with street cars, not rally cars. This is the next evolution of the sport and I’m proud that the 100 Acre Wood committee is on the leading edge."

New and old Rally America fans will enjoy several great spectator locations to watch the excitement pass right in front of them as they cheer on their favorite competitors. Cars competing in the rally are street-legal vehicles modified for safety. The cars are separated into six classes ranging from stock to highly modified. There are currently 11 different makes of automobiles registered in Rally America, lead by Subaru, Mitsubishi, Dodge, Ford and Volkswagen.

The 2006 100 Acre Wood winner, Ken Block, will be back in action and vying for a podium finish at this event. Travis Pastrana, Tanner Foust, Andrew Pinker, Andrew Comire-Picard and Matthew Iorio will be a few of the drivers to keep and eye on as they compete for the 2007 100 Acre Wood Rally title and precious qualifying points for the Summer X Games.

The 2007 Rally America National Championship series consists of ten exciting events throughout the country in many different weather and road conditions spanning the forest logging roads in Minnesota, the high-altitude Yampa River Valley in Northwest Colorado to the Pacific Northwest forest and coast paths.

2006 Rally America National Champion, Travis Pastrana won the first event of the season at the 2007 Sno*Drift Rally in northern Michigan. He drove to victory over a very competitive field.

Exciting coverage from all the Rally America events will be broadcasted on ESPN2 this year as well as highlights on the Rally America website. Rally America and ESPN reached a multi-year agreement in 2006 and will have at least five shows highlighting all the fast paced 2007 Rally America action.
