Higgins Takes American Championship!

OLYMPIA, Washington, USA -- David Higgins captured the 2002 U.S. Rally Championship over the weekend at the Wild West Rally in Olympia, Washington. Higgins and the AV Sport team wrapped up the series with one event remaining. Despite retiring on the second day while leading the Wild West Rally, it is not possible for anyone to catch David in the point standings.

"This is actually my greatest achievement so far in my career, and to beat three factory teams is unbelievable," commented a delighted Higgins.

A run of four consecutive victories and six consecutive podium finishes proved that the AV Sport team and Higgins are the most successful team in America this year.

AV Sport did maintained a presence on the podium with Tim O’Neil finishing an incredible third overall and first in Group N. Shane Mitchell had an excellent drive to fourth overall and second in Group N, and Craig Peeper finished fourth in Group N, both in AV Sport prepared cars.

Coverage of the Wild West Rally will air on SpeedChannel, Thursday, October 31st. The next round of the SCCA ProRally series is the Lake Superior Rally, October 18th & 19th.
