Team Havspeed To Compete at Ojibwe Forests ProRally

Chapel Hill, North Carolina -- Team Havspeed and their Orange Electric Mazda RX7 prepare to head to the 2001 Ojibwe Forests ProRally. Over 85 rally cars are currently entered for the Ojibwe Forests Prorally which is the 7th event in the SCCA performance rally championship and is held August 15-19th, 2001 in the picturesque 10,000 Lakes region near Bemidji, Minnesota. With the engine problems that slowed them at July's Maine Forest Rally fixed, driver Andrew Havas of North Carolina, together with co-driver John Allen of Bainbridge Island, WA, expect to be class contenders in group 5 class for modified 2WD cars.

" We had a number of problems at Maine which included ignition, flat tires, and poor visibility in the dust," said Havas. " However, the car is running very well right now and we are aiming for a strong finish at Ojibwe. Ultimately we hope for a class win and a top 10 placement, but mostly we are looking forward to great competition and a fun event."

This is the 4th ProRally event in 2001 for Team Havspeed. Previous best results this year included a Group 5 win and a 5th place overall in March at Cherokee Trails International Rally, in Chatanooga, Tenn.

The Ojibwe Forests ProRally course is approximately 260 miles long with 120 stage miles. The course follows the roads of Paul Bunyan, Two Inlets, Smoky Hills and White Earth State Forests. Road surfaces vary from hard packed and twisty to flat and sandy. In addition to the Friday and Saturday's forest special stages, Saturdays start will be at the Bemidji Speedway. Spectators will see Team Havspeed's Orange Mazda in action, meet the team, and sign the car's hood, an opportunity that is as unique as it is popular with the fans!
