VANCOUVER, BC -- Total Motors Group will be holding an open house for the general public on Saturday March 8, 2003 from 11am until 4pm. As Western Canada's only business dedicated to the motorsport of rallying, Total Motors Group features a 1,000 sq. ft. retail showroom and full service automotive shop. It caters to both racing enthusiasts and the average consumers through services, such as mechanical work for street and competition vehicles, clinics and workshops, as well as providing consultation for rallysport and custom fabrication work.

"We are excited to finally open to the general public." Says Ken Kwong, co-founder, "Preliminary response from the local rally community and the media has been positive. We hope, with the opening of this business, that we will be able to promote rallysport and service the rally community. Moreover, we hope to demystify the general public's impression of rallysport and look forward to working with the community in promoting responsible participation in motorsports amongst the younger generation"

At the open house, Total Motors Group will be featuring local rally cars and their teams on display and the debut of the first rally-prepared Mini Cooper in Canada. Representatives of the West Coast Rally Association will be present to answer questions about rallysport in BC. Unique fan wear and rally goods will also be on display and available for sale.

For fans of Canadian rallysport there will be a one-hour broadcast of the International Rally of Quebec at 12:00pm on the tube in the main showroom. "There couldn't be a better place to watch the premier broadcast of the International Rally of Quebec, which is part of the Canadian Rally Championship." adds Kwong, "Watching the rally broadcast in a rally shop with your fellow rally fans is going to be exciting." Patrick Richard, of Whistler, BC, won the event last week in Quebec and this will be the first National broadcast of the event on TSN.

Take an opportunity this Saturday to visit this unique business located at 975 Marine Drive in North Vancouver.

About Rallysport: Rallying is the fastest growing form of motorsport in North America and uses production-based cars, identical to those available to consumers at your local dealership. Rally competition puts these vehicles through some of the most demanding and punishing conditions that one could ever imagine, including racing on all type of surfaces, from pavement to gravel and from snow to ice. Manufacturers use rally car technology to increase the durability of their vehicles and Subaru is a prime example of this with their rally-bred Impreza WRX.

This form of motorsport has piqued the interest of all racing fans through increased exposure of the World Rally Championship, which is broadcast regularly on the Speed Channel. In Western Canada, participation in rallysport has grown significantly and there are a number of recent achievements that attest to this fact. Vancouver's own Patrick Richard has become the first North American to compete in the World Rally Championship on behalf of Subaru Canada. Chad Manley, from North Vancouver, is the youngest competitor to obtain his competition licence. Finally, BC has gained recognition to be included as part of the Canadian National Rally Championship with the Pacific Forest Rally to be held on June 14, 2003 in Merritt, BC.
