Veteran Co-Driver Goldfarb to Navigate for RallyHo! at STPR

KEENE, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- One of the country's top rally navigators will be filling the co-driver's seat for RallyHo! Motorsports at this weekend's Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) ProRally in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Marc Goldfarb, a long-time rally navigator and instructor, will be filling in for regular co-driver Mike Ronan at the Susquehannock Trail ProRally. Ronan has to miss the event due to a personal commitment.

Goldfarb's experience in the forest roads around Wellsboro is second to none. He knows most every twist, turn, rock and tree stump along the roads from his two decades of participation in the event. "This will be the 21st year since I began attending STPR, " Goldfarb said. "STPR 1980 was the first ProRally that I co-drove." Goldfarb is familiar with the layout of the roads, the many different conditions and the pace needed to finish such a long, difficult event. "The Pennsylvania woods always provide a tremendous challenge for rally teams. Late spring in Pennsylvania offers a huge variation in weather -- over the years we've had blinding dust, blinding fog, blinding rain, you name it," Goldfarb said. "Road surfaces and layouts vary widely, and there are many rocks and stumps very close to the road, including one with my name on it!"

When Goldfarb isn't co-driving for series regular Lesley Suddard, or working as a ProRally-licensing instructor, he can often be found winning Time Speed Distance (TSD) rallies around the country with long time teammate Mike Friedman. The "Friedfarb" TSD team is the defending champion of the Press On Regardless event in Michigan and the Finger Lakes 1000 in New York.

Driver Mike White couldn't be happier. "Having Marc join the team for this event is wonderful. He is a walking encyclopedia of rallying and the roads around Wellsboro. Having Marc calling the roads will give me tremendous confidence, and hopefully faster stage times! Last year we were 4th in class, I believe we can have an even stronger finish this year."

Goldfarb works as a microwave/RF engineer for Analog Devices in Wilmington, MA, and lives in Atkinson, NH, with his wife Wendy and three daughters.

White and Crew Chief Brett Rudolf have burned the midnight oil and depleted the Moxie(t) supply in New England since the disappointing transmission failure in Quebec at Rally Perce-Neige in February. They have repaired the drivetrain as well as making changes to the car specifically for the conditions at STPR. "We've replaced the transmission, upgraded many suspension parts and gone through the vehicle to both lighten the car and improve overall reliability," said Rudolf, who juggles his rally responsibilities with pit crew duties for several NASCAR Modified Tour teams. "Mike and I have put a lot of hours into the car. We're ready to go."
