Last Ditch Racing to challenge Rally of the Tall Pines!

Bangor, Maine, USA -- Last Ditch Racing, Maine's premiere rally team will once again head North of the border to Ontario Canada for the Rally of the Tall Pines, the final round of the 2005 Canadian Rally Championship.

Currently fourth overall in the Championship and second in Open Class, Driver John Cassidy and Co-Driver Dave Getchell are no strangers to the Pines and are looking forward to whatever mother nature may throw at them. The event has become known as a car breaker, with huge attrition at the 2004 event. The team had their first DNF there two years ago and a suffered a big hit and broken transmission last year, finishing the event without third gear. Weather is often a large factor in the event, with snow likely, but with little in the way of snowbanks to keep cars out of the ditches.

2005 has been for the team, having damaged their Open Class WRX beyond repair at the Maine Forest Rally in July. Said John Cassidy, "It's been a very difficult season as our confidence was shaken at Maine Forest. Our worst nightmare was realized in the loss of our car. We rented cars in Quebec and British Columbia in order to garner as many points as possible, but it's been difficult to step into a car that's not our own and get up to speed within one event."

The team will be driving Co-Driver Getchell's 1995 Subaru Impreza in the Open Class. This is the original, "Steel Tulip," that Cassidy drove for two seasons until moving into a turbo car. "She's a well sorted car, and very responsive," said Cassidy. "We've recently upgraded some of the packages on the car and Dave has proven it to be very competitive by taking ninth place overall at the International Rally New York this season. Dave and I are looking forward to finishing the season in typically strong LDR fashion, all with smiles on our faces!"

The team is currently busy preparing a new Subaru which will debut at the beginning of the 2006 season.

Last Ditch Racing would like to thank their 2005 team partners for their continued support!
