Last Ditch Racing heads to Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally

Bangor, Maine, USA -- Last Ditch Racing, a Maine based performance rally team, will head to the woods of Pennsylvania to contest the Finger Lakes and Sherwood Regional rallies on June 2-3. The two rallies comprise the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally, round 5 of the 2007 Rally America Championship.

"The course begins at The Green in Wellsboro and takes about 14 hours to complete. Competitors cover a total of 310 miles, including 125 competitive miles in 10 stages. Rally teams travel through two counties on generally smooth and twisty Pennsylvania State Forest roads, at times bordering the famous “Grand Canyon of the East” located 10 miles west of Wellsboro."

For 2007, driver/owner John Cassidy and Co-Driver Dave Getchell are teaming up to contest the Rally America Eastern Regional Championship. The championship will see the team racing in both the Eastern US and Canada. Cassidy and Getchell are no strangers to the events that comprise the series. "Dave and I have been racing in these events for the past several years, which means that we can hopefully push a bit harder than the competition," said Cassidy.

2007 sees Getchell returning to the right seat after driving the team's second car in 2006 with co-driver Steve McKelvie. "Dave and Steve had a great season last year, but we're looking forward to working together again in the car. We had great success in the past and are looking to build on that experience for 2007," said Cassidy.

Cassidy and Co-Driver Erik Lee had a lesson in severe deceleration at the Team O'Neil Rally at the end of last season, thanks to a large birch tree. Cassidy and the team have been busy rebuilding the car during the recent months. Said Cassidy, "Rallyists are an odd breed of racer-we look at damage to the car as a reason to upgrade and innovate! We've made chassis, driveline and brake system improvements to the car and hope to be very competitive."

The team is pleased to welcome several new team partners for 2007. Kartboy, a maker of quality products for Subaru's and other imports is supplying the team with their short shifter, shift knob, bushings and exhaust hangers. "The shifter is my interface with the car, and having the Kartboy products will make sure that I have the quality feel that I need." Turn In Concepts is also supporting the team with quality suspension and transmission bits as well as their big bore crossover pipe. "Clint at Turn In Concepts joins Tom in producing quality products that improve reliability and performance of the car. We're very excited to have both of them on board with us this seaon!"

The team will be bringing their unique sense of humor back to the sport for 2007, once again awarding the Triple Caution Thong award, a desirable award among rallyists, but one with ever-changing criteria for winning. Said Cassidy, "The past winners of the Triple Caution Thong are a varied and motley crew, and it's brought a lot of smiles to fellow competitors.

The team is pleased to welcome back their team partners for 2007!
