RUMFORD, Maine, USA -- David Higgins drove one of the best events of his career over the weekend when he recovered from 22nd place to 3rd overall at the Maine Forest Rally.
Higgins had to swerve to avoid spectators that were on the 3rd stage and smashed the front suspension and radiator, losing two and a half minutes on the stage. The AV Sport team worked miracles to repair the car in service, and David was able to fight back to 3rd and a podium finish, retaining his points lead in the series.
"We have proved that the team and driver have what is necessary to fight for a championship with this comeback," commented Higgins.
Tim O’Neil finished 1st in Group N and Jason Rivas was 3rd, both in AV Sport Subarus.
Coverage of the Maine Forest Rally will air on SpeedChannel, Thursday, September 19th. The next round of the SCCA ProRally series is the Ojibwe Forests Rally, August 16th & 17th.
