Volkan Isik, a Renowned Turkish Champion, to Compete
in the International Rally New York 2010,
the Penultimate Round of the United States Rally Championship

Forestburgh, New York — A noted Turkish Champion Volkan Isik with codriver Vedat Bostanci have entered the International Rally New York in a Lassa Rally Team Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Lassa Racing Tyres are the main sponsor of the team.

This motorsport competition will take place on September 10 and 11 in the beautiful southern Catskill Mountains of New York, merely ninety miles northwest of New York City.

The two-day International Rally New York 2010 with 96 miles of special stages is the final round of the United States Rally Championship. Each day is a separate round of the New York Rally Championship.

Volkan Isik started rallying in 1989. He won the Turkish National Championship six times during his career. Volkan competed in nineteen World Rally Championship events with 7th place at 1999 Rally Portugal, 6th place at 1999 China Rally and 10th place at 1998 Acropolis Rally. He won three events of the European Rally Championship and achieved several podium finishes in forty starts.

Lately, Volkan has been involved with Lassa Racing Tyre research and development project. He also trains and develops new rally drivers under his program First Step to the Rally with Volkan Isik.

Rally New York, Ltd. (www.RallyNewYork.com), headquartered in Forestburgh, New York, is the organizer and promoter of three National Championship events: Gravel International Rally New York in the fall, tarmac Rally New York USA in the spring and snow New York Winter Rally. Rally New York has been instrumental in introducing reconnaissance of rally route, pace notes and international rules into US rallying since 2004. Rally New York also organizes regional rallies as part of the New York Rally Championship.

The United States Rally Championship (www.usrallychampionship.com) is taking bold steps to make national competition more affordable and accessible to a larger number of rally teams. The United States Rally Championship was the largest rally Championship in the country in the 2009 season with nearly twice as many participants as any other championship. The variety of racing surfaces offered in the Championship - gravel, tarmac and snow - is unparalleled in US rallying. All events of the United States Rally Championship offer full reconnaissance. This is the fourth season of the new Championship structure that minimizes or, for many teams, eliminates the need for repeated cross-country travel during the Championship season by providing competition on each side of the country. The final round of the Championship at the end of the year counts both in the Atlantic Division and the Pacific Division and together with the results from all previous rounds decides the top spots in the Championship.
